In the state of Delaware, Pathways offers services through its wholly owned subsidiary, Pathways of Delaware. Pathways of Delaware specializes in alternative education schools and programs and school-based therapeutic services.
Alternative EducationOur alternative education schools and programs span the continuum including alternative discipline schools, emotional support classrooms, and in-school alternative programs. Each model provides a comprehensive program of individualized educational, psychological and social services to youth, grades K-12, who have been recommended for an alternative school placement. Our institutions move beyond the services provided by traditional schools by using a collaborative approach, evidenced based practices aimed at transformation, a restorative methodology, and a strong emphasis on the marriage between education and mental health.
Our goal is to ensure that every student is prepared for a successful transition to his or her home school or beyond by demonstrating improvement and progress in academics, attendance, behavior, and mental health. We work closely with the school districts to develop individual service plans for each student that include goals and indicators of success.
Our student-centered and school-wide mental health program focuses on each student’s strengths and challenges. The mental health team concentrates on the personal development and behavioral interventions for each student. A team environment is utilized — including core and special education teachers, counselors, discipline staff, the school and community liaison, and the principal team — to create a therapeutic environment throughout all of our schools. For us, having students meet their behavioral and mental health goals is just as important as meeting academic success.
School-Based Therapeutic ServicesSchool districts have found their role in attending to the psycho-emotional needs of their students increasing dramatically over the years. Pathways’ school-based therapeutic services are specifically designed to assist school districts with the process of understanding mental health, coordinating outside agency/provider and community services, professional development and training for staff and families, developing comprehensive Individual Service Plans, and delivering therapeutic interventions.
Our licensed masters’ level clinicians and psychologists have served school districts and families by using a treatment model which includes 1) problem definition, 2) problem analysis, 3) plan intervention, and 4) critical evaluation.
